For Shannon… “Yes We Can”

Actually, I’m pretty sure that she’s probably already seen this viral video for her candidate. I’m just posting it for those who may not have caught it already. It’s a pretty powerful message.

For those who might not be quite into pop culture, the video was produced by will.i.am the front man for the Black Eyed Peas. It wasn’t commissioned by Obama but once he saw it he recognized its potential impact and he’s put it up on his campaign website.

  1. Quite a coincidence. I hadn’t seen this, and then last night I sat with my newest toy (yes, I’ve started buying myself presents with my winnings) which allows me to watch YouTube on my TV. The first thing I watched was this.

Quite a good video. He is seeming more and more Kennedy-esque, isn’t he.

Any room on this blog for political discussions?

  2. Ooh…. same ticket? Not sure that would be electable. Not sure Obama is electable, but no white man at all? I don’t know about that.

  3. That does not mean I’m voting Republican. That means I’m not convinced America will vote for a ticket that doesn’t include a white man.

  4. I once voted for Ralph Nader for president. Gore had NJ locked and I thought the best thing for the country would be for a 3rd party candidate to get enough votes that, in the next general election, that party would receive federal funds. The 2 party system is seriously flawed.

I vote with both my brain and my heart.

So who did you vote for in the primary?

  5. So was I. I went with Obama. Hillary had a significant lead in the polls (in NJ) and at the last minute I decided I wanted to help add momentum to Obama’s campaign.

I do think having them both on one ticket would be a mistake. It could give the election to the Republicans.

Next question on my mind. If you want the dems in the White House in order to bring real change, could Hillary get that done?, i.e., would the republicans, that hate the Clintons so much, cooperate at all, or stonewall and undermine everything she tries to do?

  6. I think the Republicans would stonewall any Democrat in office…doesn’t matter if it’s Clinton or Obama.

So do you think Edwards should get the VP nod?

  7. I disagree. If Obama were elected in a landslide, I think the reps might just respect the mandate somewhat. I think they’d cooperate more, because he would be fashioned a “uniter”. Not so for Clinton, I think. No matter how decisively she might win, they’d dig in their heels.

Probably a moot point, unlikely there’ll be any landslide.

Maybe Edwards, I don’t know. Haven’t thought much about it.
